Did you know that fruit flies are easy to kill using a combination of apple cider vinegar and dish soap? I discovered this trick for killing fruit flies after I noticed the pests near my produce bowl and wanted a method for pest control that would be pet-safe and child friendly. m
The below video shows how to kill fruit flies naturally using items already in your kitchen:
Fruit flies are attracted to the smell of the vinegar, and attempt to land on its surface. The dish soap breaks the surface tension of the vinegar, the fruit flies fall in and are unable to climb out of the liquid.
Read the step-by-step breakdown below and watch the 2 min video to see the vinegar fly trap in action.
1. Pour several tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into a small bowl or jar.
2. Add a couple drops of dish soap. Swirl around slightly to mix.
3. Cover with plastic wrap and poke a few small holes just large enough to allow the flies to crawl through.
4. Place in the fly trap area where you’ve seen the fruit flies.
If you have pets or children running around, this method of killing fruit flies is great because it uses natural ingredients and is non-toxic. This is a picture of my fruit fly trap after 24 hours. See all the gross dead fruit flies floating in the vinegar/soap mixture?
